Happy July 4... Enjoy. Be safe.
Self-concept
Your baby is moving around playing but all of a sudden he stops playing walks over to you with his hands up indicating that he needs to be picked up. You pick him up and he rest his head on your shoulder just relaxing. Your baby knows when he needs comfort and you should be there when he needs it. As your baby grows you should allow him to freely explore but letting he know that there is a base he can go to when there is a challenge. This is an example : My fifteen year old goes to school in Mass. she loves it there at times you will not here from her for weeks.A few weeks ago she go injured playing soccer and is not able to move around as she should. A few weeks ago she called me in the middle of the day. She was crying she explained how frustrated she was and was tired . She had just returned from physical therapy. We spend about 1 hr, on the phone . I listened to her as she explained why she is frustrated and tired. She was upset because she missed some classes. I reminded her that her teachers are aware that her health comes first. Life has challenges and at times is unpredictable. She will get through this .
She usually leave her phone at home . I told her that she should take her phone to school this way she can call when she has the need to talk.
We have built self-concept and trust since she was an infant by allowing her to explore but understanding that there is a base when challenge arise.
All these skills that you are plating the roots for your baby need them for life. As development occurs the baby builds on these skills.
