Transition--putting on their own pull up or pants

I am a little behind with sharing some information, however I know my mom has.

For the last few weeks Ajani and I have focused on transitioning moving from 2 year old activities and behaviors to 3 year old.

Ajani recently had an earth day and I had a birth day.

Last night for the first time Ajani was able to take his pull up and put it on all by himself (ok so it was backwards) but that was a celebration and transition. At this stage your little one should begin trying to put on their own clothing. At least the easy items such as pull up, underwear or pants.

This morning he took up his sweat pants and put it on by himself.

Being able to do this is a social skill (yes I know you may be asking, "how is that a social skill") just keep in mind the Social is the largest component when looking at Social, Emotional and Cognitive skills.

Having the independence to dress oneself builds self-confidence; being able to attempt to dress oneself is also building self esteem also known as self-efficacy.

An occupational therapist would call it a life skill

The next time your little one is trying to help dress herself encourage her.

Be well
