Parent involvement

The new school year is here and there will be meetings ,parent teacher conferences for you to attend.
It is very important for you to attend these meetings . Parent involvement is the most critical ingredient  for  positive child outcomes.
Many times parents say "I do not have the time". Managing time is very important ,remember that you are a parent for the life of your child and putting your time  critical.

• Parent involvement can be done in a number of ways . Here are a few ideas.
• The fist step is building a relationship with your school/.childcare program.
•  Positive communication is the key  building  relationships
• If you have been to college you can discuss that with the class
• You  can volunteer to discuss your career
• If you  work close by you can invite the class for  a tour
• You can donate items
• You cam speak about your culture
• You can volunteer/ trips/classroom
• You can do a read a book
• You can help to plan a show
• You can have your friend donate items to the class :speak with the teacher to find out their need
• If you play an instrument the teacher can have you as a special guest

Also network with the parents in your class exchange emails/phone numbers this way you can stay informed about what is going on in your child's class and the school community. Parents can also take the kids out on the week-ends.
