Ajani woke up at 5am today(8-12-14)
He asked his mom to read him a story . He is 2yr.11months . It is great that he loves books that is because he has had months of experience with books . He has a variety of books and has in favorite. He is able to identify most of the alphabet . He understands that letters make words . This morning he said to his mom "mommy more words". We will begin his reading journey. He already knows the letters in stop . When we are walking he usually say the letters and one of us will say "that word is stop". He has leaned that letters make words. We will begin to introduce him to the site words .
This is a transition from just looking at pictures to now understanding that the letters make words. He also understands language and is able to express his needs .For example : if you ask him are you hungry he will say yes or no. If he is doing pretend play and you ask him what are you cooking ? He will say I cooking eggs we will extend his language by saying wow you are cooking eggs.
infants/toddlers must understand language before they can get ready for reading words.
We will see how the reading process develops.
Sharing information and advice on the most critical time... The first 2000 Days. What are some things you can look out for and some activities you can do with infants/toddlers to get them through the various developmental milestones before they get to school. Also I will share information for the caregivers from age appropriate books to setting up classrooms.
