Social Emotional Development

What do we mean by social emotional development ?
This refers to a young child's ability to develop positive relationships with the adults who care for them and then other children in and out side their families.
 Emotional development refers to the young child's ability to manage their emotions ,express their feelings and have empathy for others. These skills are learned over time (0-3) when the brain is being developed . Young children need to be able to express a variety of emotions  happy,sad,frustrated in healthy ways. children who have these skills have a successful start when they get to kindergarten.

These process must begin early:with the parents and the adults who are caring for the children .
Interacting with adults:
birth to 18 months :Does  your baby quiets down when she is comforted especially by a familiar adult
Does you baby engage with the adults ,smiles,tries to talk etc.
18-36 months :Does your child field safe ,engage in pretend play
