Your infant /toddler begins to understand that certain adult action is associated with expected behavior ( for example when I here a certain song It is nap time)birth to 18 months
18-36 months -begins to show empathy when some one is hurt . You toddler learns this from the care giver's reaction when they are hurt. Your are the mirror to the world and they view the world through your reaction to experiences. It is important to be consistent with your infant/toddler
