Your toddler mus have access to writing tools and his own note book this will allow him to write when he wants to . This allows him to develop the muscles in his fingers and wrist . Many children get to kindergarten and may get signed up for occupational therapy because they did not get the experiences during those critical years 0-3 when the brain grows the most . at birth the brain is 25% developed and by 3 years old it is 85% the size of the adult brain.
Sharing information and advice on the most critical time... The first 2000 Days. What are some things you can look out for and some activities you can do with infants/toddlers to get them through the various developmental milestones before they get to school. Also I will share information for the caregivers from age appropriate books to setting up classrooms.

The ability to focus must be encouraged by providing experiences that will allow your infant/toddler to learn that skill over time. When your toddler gets to his 3rd birth day he should be able to focus.

Subtraction- during the infant /toddler years
You can introduce the word take away(minus) to you toddler . Just remove one of the object and then you will both count how many are there now . You can make it into a game by letting one disappear . You can also introduce the vocabulary add (addition ). These are all games that you and your toddler can play . Use things that your toddler has been playing with every day. You will observe that your toddler will in co-operate these vocabulary into his play .
Once the brain has an experience it does not forget it . That is why positive experiences are critical for healthy brain development. Your infant/toddler brain is new therefore you need to allow time for her to learn vocabulary and objects that corresponds and concepts. The brain grows mos rapid during 0-3 years and age appropriate experiences must be provided.
I am sure that you will think of some creative ways to use what you already have.

Brain development -Math concepts
Now that your toddler is 3 years you can introduce the following words to her . Long and short, longer and longest , shortest , counting , subtraction and adding . These concepts are introduce gradual and time is given for the toddler to understand the language . This should be done when you are playing with your toddler.
Your toddler has been playing with this toy for a while. You will say" wow John this dinosaur has a long tail" he may look at it or he may not . He heard it and observed that you touched it . Then you can say and this one has a short tail. After a few weeks and he understand the language you may want to say can you show me which dinosaur has a long tail if he shows you create a big deal about it . Wow John give me a high five yes you did it and if anyone else is home call them and tell them. You will see the big smile that will be on his face. Now you know that he understand the language that goes with the object. Then you will introduce the next words Longer and shorter. Again give your toddler time to understand the language and the object. You will repeat this with the other words that you will introduce.

Math during the infant/toddler years-Language
You can use toys that you have at home to introduce many concepts (big and small)
When you observe that action you will say "wow you put the ball in the blue bowl" and when it is out you will also indicate that . After several experiences your infant/toddler will understand the action that goes with the words. This is how your baby begins to understand language.Yes your baby is not speaking but her brain records every experience and it is retrieved when it is needed.
Provide items for play and once in a while you should just mention it : I see that you are playing with a big car after several experiences your baby will be able identify the word with the object. You can also say John "can you give me the big blue car".You can also teach the colors . You can count the wheels . These are all math words.
Counting begins with body parts fingers, eyes, ears feet etc . Your toddler should be able to count to the number ten because she has ten toes and fingers. Human interaction is the best way for young children to learn language.
