Ajani is in a store and he is able to sit and play and not run around in the store . He understand that he is not in the park.Young children must learn that behavior differs based on the space that you are in. Having age appropriate toys are very important.

What do we mean by social emotional development ?
This refers to a young child's ability to develop positive relationships with the adults who care for them and then other children in and out side their families.
 Emotional development refers to the young child's ability to manage their emotions ,express their feelings and have empathy for others. These skills are learned over time (0-3) when the brain is being developed . Young children need to be able to express a variety of emotions  happy,sad,frustrated in healthy ways. children who have these skills have a successful start when they get to kindergarten.

These process must begin early:with the parents and the adults who are caring for the children .
Interacting with adults:
birth to 18 months :Does  your baby quiets down when she is comforted especially by a familiar adult
Does you baby engage with the adults ,smiles,tries to talk etc.
18-36 months :Does your child field safe ,engage in pretend play

I am in the kitchen and my grandson calls me "Na Na" come  look . I went in the living room. He hold up a piece of paper "look NaNa that's my name "AJANI" pointing to each letter. I spell my name he yelled wit a big grin. :Wow you did it ,I said to him.Now you are on your way to reading . I gave him a high five. He then picked up one of his books. Spot Bakes a Cake  
He began to sound out the letters in bake.I stared as he perform that task .

I reflected on the last  last three years  and thought how important readiness skills are .Youn children should see learning as fun.

We celebrated his birthday at the orchard with his friends . It is important to give young children different experiences this helps with brain development.

Social skills -setting limits

It is critical that you set limits for your toddler and now that he/she is four they are very persistent in doing what they want to do. You need to be firm with love .This is the period when you have to let your young child understand what are socially acceptable behaviors and what is not. The first 2000 days 0-3 lays the foundation for life . These are the critical years for brain development. Positive experiences are key to developing the brain.


Babies -new born you should be reading to them and playing soothing music. This teaches the baby listening skills and also helps with brain development and language development. This is a skill that the baby needs for school .Yes you have to start getting your baby ready for school the first day that you bring the baby home.

Getting your child to cooperate

The years 3-4 are very important this is a time when your toddler is very defiant his favorite words are "No and why" You have to be firm and persistent and explain why some things must be that way because by the time the child is five ,the first 2000 days  she should had had those social skills intact.
You need to be patient ,you have to be tough and you have to gentle and persist . If you say he should not sit on the couch and eat he should sit at the table you must  keep it that way all the time ,be persistent  everyone must follow the same rule.

Your child must first learn the concept of  rules and consequences at home this way when they get to school they will be able to adjust.You should not have too many rules one or two is good to start with.It will take a while for her to get the concept . She is new to the world and is learning language and the action that goes with it .

This activity helps children with sensory it also develops the muscles in the finger and the writs ,these are needed for writing. As infants/toddlers get more experience with this material they will learn their colors also .

Language development -Thing we don't think about

Language  development is  very important ans when we are speaking we must be mindful that toddlers absorb everything and will repeat what ever they hear . They usually do this during their play at school/childcare . We must be mindful at times especially on the phone cursing out a person or on the street.

We want to build a good brain that will have positive experiences.

Blocks -Language development

Blocks are great for young children because it is open ended , this means there is no wrong or with  way to use it . The learn a number of skills while using block here are a few: size , measurement ,problem solving,critical thinking,shapes,the ability to focus  and their color these are just a few of the many skills that children are learning during block play.Block play allows for creativity also.

Bonding is very important

You must spend quality time with your infant/toddler . Play is a very important part of a young child's life . The quality of toys that you purchase is very important .Quality time gives you a chance to be one one praise your child ,wow look at the  tall tower that you build.You are giving the child new vocabulary also.You can extend the child's  vocabulary.

Birthdays

You should  celebrate birthdays in different spaces . Young children will begin to learn that you can be diverse with activities.

Developmentally appropriate toys

It is important to engage with your child during play . It is also as important for your child to learn how to play alone. If you are not able to play you should explain that you cannot play at the moment. You are teaching your child how to accept no without feeling rejected . This is a skill your child needs as he enters school.Playing with this toy is also teaching the child how to focus.
