Math during the infant/toddler years-Language

You can  use toys that you have at home to introduce many concepts  (big and small)

Math   begins in the early years . You should begin by introducing math words to your infant/toddler . About 9 months you should begin to introduce  math vocabulary for example  in and out by providing experiences for the baby a dish and  objects. The baby will naturally put the items in . However,if the tools are not provided the  baby will not get the experience.
When you observe that action you will say "wow you put the ball in the blue bowl"  and when it is out you will also indicate that . After several experiences your infant/toddler will understand the action that goes with the words. This is how your baby begins to understand language.Yes your baby is not speaking but her brain  records every experience and it is retrieved when it is needed.

Provide items for play and once in a while you should just mention it : I see that you are playing with a big  car after several experiences your baby will be able identify the word with the object. You can also say John "can you give me the big   blue car".You can also teach the colors . You can count the wheels . These are all math words.

Counting begins with body parts fingers, eyes, ears feet etc . Your toddler should be able to count to the number ten because she has ten  toes and fingers. Human interaction is the best way for young children to learn language.
